About

Who I am and my passions:

My name is Jeff Barrows and from 1984 until 1999, I worked full time as an Ob/Gyn in a small town outside of Columbus Ohio. In 1999, the Lord called me out of my practice to begin devoting more time to ministry with the Christian Medical Dental Association (CMDA). I spent several years working with and leading one of the ministry outreaches of CMDA called Medical Education International (MEI). Through my work with CMDA, in 2004 I became aware of the issue of human trafficking. Prior to that time, I had never heard of human trafficking. As I learned more about the horrific nature of human trafficking, my heart was “wrecked”…and I knew I could not ignore this form of modern day slavery.

Initially, I worked with the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons through CMDA and spent significant time researching the health consequences of human trafficking. In 2008, I founded Gracehaven, a developing rehabilitative facility for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking in Ohio.

Currently, I work with a nonprofit called Hope For Justice traveling around the country training healthcare professionals on how to identify and assist victims of human trafficking that present in the healthcare setting. Finally, I am also passionate about mentoring those young in the faith so that they gain wisdom in their life and find the abundant life promised in the Bible. I believe that the mentoring process is 2 way and is absolutely integral in the growth of a Christian.
